 Large Format Banner Guidelines    


At Graphic Print Solutions, we offer a full range of options in art preparation. We will
work with you to accommodate your needs. Here are some hints to help things go smoothly.


ACCEPTABLE MEDIA:
Zip – CD – DVD (Mac Format)

SUGGESTED SOFTWARE:
Adobe Photoshop 7 (include layers when possible)
Quark 5 (convert type to outlines)
Adobe Illustrator 10 (include screen and printer fonts and
supporting graphics)
Freehand 10 or older (convert type to paths and save as EPS)
InDesign 2.0 (convert type to paths)

FILE PREPARATION:
All files should be built in CMYK with PMS colors converted to tint values. All 100% Black needs to be supported. We use Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black @ 100%.

Please make your art _ size @ 300 DPI.

Please send a color copy of your file. We strive to match color on each job. Some Desktop printer proofs are not representative of the digital files. On the proof that you send along with your digital file, please indicate the PMS colors and their tint values. We always provide color proofs for approval.

 Billboard Specifications    
  
MEDIA: CD - Zip - DVD
LAYOUT: Please layout your document to the size shown on the following page. Include all fonts (screen & printer) and all placed images or art files.
INFORMATION: All 30-sheet posters will output to film @ 100 LPI. This will give a screen of 7 LPI at the final printed size. 8-Sheet posters will output at 133 LPI for a final printed piece at 9 LPI. Do not support black areas with full under color. Up to 60% of one color (usually cyan) is acceptable. We recommend None!
IMAGES: Tiff, EPS, DCS & Scitex CT files produce the best quality and are preferred. Hi-res Scans, Imaging and Color corrections are also available. All scans should be at least 200 PPI when placed into the document at 100%. Images should be supplied as CMYK, not RGB. The total ink density should be 240%.
BACKGROUND: We do not recommend using large CMYK graduated or full process color for a solid background. Whenever possible, use a fifth color and clearly indicate the color on the files. This also gives you the best sheet match.
MACROMEDIA: All files must be submitted in native format. EPS files must retain access the to native files.
ILLUSTRATOR: We accept all Adobe Illustrator files.
QUARK: All files must be submitted in native format. Include any linked images or EPS line art files.
PAGEMAKER: Same as Quark, with the following exception. Do not save images embedded in file, please link them.

FILE PREFERENCE
All files should be CMYK with PMS colors converted to tint values. All 100% Blacks need
to be supported. We use Cyan, Magenta & Yellow @ 75% and Black @ 100%.
When sending a digital file, please also send a color copy of the file, indicating the PMS colors and their tint values. Some Desktop printer proofs are not representative of the digital files. We always provide color proofs for approval.
Please make sure that all type and logos are approximately 6” from all four edges.

With the exception of the 16" x 48" (direct application Mini Tails) all the other art sizes shown, allows for the 1" frame that these boards are mounted to! Also, if this size board (16" x 48") has a 100% color background, please add .05" for bleed.

  Vehicle Graphics Specs    

 

To help you get the best quality, we have prepared the following information for your files. The name of the files should be written on the disc or on a printout. Please attach a hard copy with the scale noted. This will ensure that the file prints exactly as expected.

DIGITAL FILES: CD – Zip – DVD

SOFTWARE: Illustrator - *Photoshop - Quark, InDesign - Freehand

*If art is created in Photoshop we require layered files.

Compressed files should be saved as self-extracting. Any linked documents should be saved as EPS or uncompressed TIFF files. To get the best photographic image, it is important that your file has enough data to support the desired resolution.

FONTS: When possible, a licensed copy of all fonts should be sent. For custom or unusual fonts, all type should be converted to curves or outlines.

ART: Must be CMYK. If a photo has to be scanned, please make sure that it is no larger than 8” x 10”. If cropping or trimming is required, please send a copy indicating these areas.

VEHICLES: We have templates of many modern vehicles for your convenience.

SCALE: 1” = 1’ with a minimum 600 DPI.

BLEED: Please add 4” to all edges
